Good bye Summer
Many of our friends left Ghana over the summer. Many asked "What will you do here all summer long?" Summers are different without a street full of friends to run off to. It's an effort to drive and find things to do but we did our best to find adventure! We've already posted about the 3 big adventures we went on but today is for the inbetween times.
To keep up with the social, the kids went a few weeks to summer camp daily activities at Lincoln Academy where they got to swim, make crafts, play sports, and go on field trips with others who stuck around for the summer. Here is a pic from their last day of camp which as you can see the counselors really outdid themselves with games and bounce houses and popcorn and cotton candy.
Of course we swam regularly.
And had friends join sometimes too.
We got creative- found bookstores and arcades, made bracelets and built legos and puzzles. All before we could settle in and watch movies or play video games.
It was the rainy season which meant it cooled down a little but actually only rained hard a couple times.
The Lukes (another family here) were a saving grace to our sanity and we got together with them regularly. Here's the mini golf place we found.
And I had a few friends around to do lunch with.
We celebrated some birthdays. Here's some friends from the ward who joined us for cake/ ice cream for Bradyn's birthday.
Melvin and John with Bradyn. Such good boys- his best buddies from church.
And here's his celebration at the arcade with his camp buddies.
And for my birthday we went to my favorite outing here- legon botanical gardens zip line and ropes course.
And we saw Lion King
We played at the beach a few times. Sometimes with friends and sometimes just us.
When we go we get these little huts to ourself to escape the sun sometimes.
Dylan's the one who really likes to ride the waves however he can- surf board or boogie board or no board.
I've tried the surf board as well and let's just say this is my only picture upright with the surfboard haha
And it's always more fun with friends like the Ukorebis and Richards.
Good bye Summer! (Oh wait, here the summer weather never really goes away. Instead I'll say good bye lazy days!)
